back to the SoappotJanuary 9, 2009
I hope you all had as wonderful a Christmas season as I did. Among other things I got to take my nephew to see Santa Clause for the fourth year in a row. It was an interesting day. Now on to the soap. I don't remember if I mentioned it earlier or not, but since oxides and ultramarines are both man made powders, I am working on them together. The bars in the back both have ultramarine blue. The one on the left is a nice darkish blue. It has 6 scoops of colorant. The one on the right has 3 scoops and is an entirely different color. It looks more like turquoise. The two bars in front are made from yellow oxide. As you can see once again we have two entirely different colors. The one on the left with 6 scoops of colorant looks like goldenrod. The lighter one with 3 scoops of colorant is a nice yellow. Over the holiday I made up recipes for both shampoo bar and eggnog soap. I will be posting pictures and the recipe shortly. In the meantime I've added two recipes to the Magical Chant page. One called Winter White is a Happy Soaper Original. The other is called Milk White soap and is from Milk Soapmaking by Anne Watson. They both make nice white milk soap and thus are good candidates for colored milk soap. You will also find that I have added to the site a page called Tips and Tricks. While there is only one article on it at the moment, it will soon fill up with helpful hints from exeprienced soapers to help us Newbies become profecient in the craft. Enjoy and stay tuned. I have a few new projects planned that I hope you will find interesting.
