Fast Forward
FEB 11. 2010
As You can see from the posting date it has been a long time since my last post. Once again faith has intervene by rearing the ugly head of bad health. Almost a year ago I had a stroke, on my Birthday, no less Coming back has not been fun.
For most of the past year I was unable to do much soaping. For a time I lost the full use of my Brain. But now I am back and having a ball. Life is really good when you can make soap. And Now I can make Soap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So let me give you a brief repoprt on what Little I have been doing. First I am back supplying homeless shelter. In fact we added a 3rd shelter and all my soap trays are full after standing empty for many month. That my friends is a very good feeling
Mostly I've spent the last year making small batch play around with Brambleberys Lab Colors They are wonderful. I highly recommend them.
Around Christmas time I did some experimenting making rootbeer soap. You can use rootbeer in the place of the water using any standard recipe. You can also make Milk rootbeer soap by using Rootbeer Milk in place of the water. Both are in the first picture above. One caution The rootbeer does make your rinse water a tad bit brown. The milk soap I call rootbeer float. And it's wonderful The same picture also has some butterscotch. This recipe was developed for the husband of a dear friend who loves butterscotch. I've added the recipe to the magical chant page. It uses a lot of real butter, and make a really nice soap
And finally my most crazy project, coconut lime. My dear spouse spent serveral days wandering aroud the house singing the old song out the lime in the coconut. So I did just that. I took a standard muffin recipe using coconut milk and a touch of lime juice and bake it as a loaf with some flake coconut. The soap was make from my colorant recipe using coconut milk and some lime Fo. both soap and bread came out great. Thus proving even insanity can have a nice outcome.
PS I have one more recipe for you. If you are a fan of palm oil you might like this one. While cleaning out my attic I found a 50 lb bucket of palm oil that I didnt know I had Talk about a nice suprise. It's called combo found under the working recipe section of the recipe page. There are two verion. You can use the palm oil successful with either shea butter or cocoa butter. Enjoy.
